A function of the Woodstock Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Made Mercantile is a creative collaboration space that allows retail makers the opportunity to produce their product, test them in a retail setting and collaborate with other retail makers with one goal in common : to incubate business owners within Woodstock who are interested in developing consumer products to market at a larger scale.

Who We Are

Made Mercantile is a collaborative coworking space and small business retail incubator in the heart of Woodstock. We provide local makers with workspace, retail opportunities, and educational resources to help them scale their businesses. Our goal is to support home-based entrepreneurs as they transition into brick-and-mortar establishments, while keeping Downtown Woodstock vibrant and diverse. As a part of the program, we offer members space to test and sell their work. We feature hyper-local, handmade goods—95% of which are designed and created on-site.

How It All Started

Madison Beaulieu had been deeply involved in Woodstock’s maker community for years. With my her line of paper goods and experience coordinating the Maker’s Mash at Reformation Brewery since 2017, she recognized the need for a space like Made Mercantile. In 2018, I brought the idea to the city, and in 2020, Brian Stockton reached out with plans to renovate a vacant Main Street space to bring this vision to life. What began as a volunteer effort on Madison’s part has since grown into a full-time role.

Why We Exist

Woodstock has an amazing community of makers, but the Maker community lacked a dedicated space to test products and receive real-time feedback from customers. While pop-up shops are great, they can only go so far. We needed a place where makers could work, host classes, hold events, and have a retail presence to test and refine their products. Made Mercantile was created to fill that gap.

Our Mission

We believe in growing businesses through community. By providing a collaborative environment, we help makers take their businesses to the next level, offering them the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive.

Who We Serve

Made Mercantile was created for makers who are looking to scale their production and transition into full-time entrepreneurship. Our space is designed to support and help launch the future mom-and-pop shops of Woodstock and beyond.

Why Art and Creating Matter

Art is the heart and soul of a community. The act of making fosters real connections—there’s something special about lighting a candle and knowing exactly who made it or purchasing a piece of art that reflects your hometown. Local makers play a crucial role in shaping a community’s identity and preserving its character through growth.

How to Show Your Support

The best way to support Made Mercantile is to visit our shop! Meet your local makers, buy unique gifts, and sign up for a class or two with friends. We’ve been blown away by the support of our community over the past few years, and we are incredibly thankful for each and every one of you.

Classes & Events

We offer a variety of hands-on workshops, including make-your-own-makeup, soap making, candle making, jewelry making, and printmaking. And we’re always adding more!

Our Program Graduates

We’ve been lucky enough to work along side some wonderful businesses.

Made helped me grow my business by creating a work space outside my home where I could focus more and be more effective in my craft. The increased revenue I saw from the space allowed me to quickly open my first brick and mortar storefront, a long time dream of mine.
